Talking to a source this morning who confirmed my long held belief that UNLESS the Flyers are "many points out of the playoff race" the Flyers will be keeping Wayne Simmonds and trying to keep him long-term. They are NOT afraid of losing him for nothing at the end of the season...
more to come...
what changed Ek? |

@homiedclown
to be fair in these scenarios the swap gives them all a good player now
To me it doesnt make sense from the perspective of the teams.
Montreal would probably love Simmonds or Panarin but im not sure either would be any quicker to sign in MTL than Patches
Columbus would benefit from this as we know Panarin doesnt want to stay. Both players are a slight downgrade but are still very strong player so why not take a player that would resign instead of then losing Panarin for nothing
As for Philadelphia, if they cant get Simmonds who wants to stay signed, I cant see a deal being done with the other 2. Simmonds should be the easiest of the 3 to sign. |

Panarin's value right now >>>>>> than the other two. |

The Habs are in tanking mode this year. A full rebuild is not possible with atrocious contracts to Price, Weber and Alzner. They are not trading Patch for an expensive asset like Simmonds. Panarin would fit better into their plan but just not in a year they want to get Jack Hughes. They want picks and prospects for Patch. That's all. |

Panarin is a definite step up from either two. They are good players but Panarin is just a smidge (lot) better. |

Yeah, for sure. He doesn't have the age or injury history of Simmonds nor the declining production of Pacioretty. |

If you consider the intangibles, Actually he's not ! Panarin has NO physical game, can't fight for teammates ! Simmonds can score as many goals, and supplies the physical aspect ! |

Why would the flyers put Nopa as the third line center? So he has Lindblom and who on his wing? Patrick has skills so honestly he would prolly be a better fit with JVR and Jake. Those guys are vets and can take a lot of the attention away from Patrick.
Doesn't make sense. Would Patches play third line center? |

Is no one going to address how Eklund thinks Pacioretty is a centreman? |
